English-Speaking Psychotherapist in Vienna, near Hauptbahnhof
I am a psychotherapist (behaviour therapy) and clinical psychologist, and I offer therapy in English and German. My practice is on Alfred-Adler-Straße in the Sonnwendviertel in Favoriten, Vienna’s 10th district, a few minutes’ walk from Vienna Main Station (Hauptbahnhof). I work with adolescents from 12, adults and older people who are living with a mental health condition or going through a serious life crisis. Sessions take place at the practice or online.
How I can help
I combine treatment tailored to the specific condition with an individual view of your situation. For many mental health conditions there are well-researched treatment programmes, and I draw on them. At the same time, I adapt the approach to your life story, your goals and your everyday life, because nobody is just a diagnosis. Common reasons people come to my practice:
- Anxiety and panic: panic attacks, social anxiety, phobias, persistent worry, health anxiety
- OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder): obsessive thoughts and compulsions
- Depression and bipolar disorder
- Personality disorders: for example borderline or narcissistic patterns
- PTSD and trauma-related disorders
- ADHD and autism in adolescents and adults
- Eating disorders: bulimia and binge eating
- Sleep problems
- Addiction: alcohol, drugs, prescription drugs, gambling, gaming and internet, porn, compulsive shopping
- Burnout and adjustment disorders
- Support for family members
- Relationship problems and loneliness
- Problems at work or in education
- Self-esteem and self-criticism
- Life crises, separation and grief
- Anger, impulsivity and intense mood swings
- Physical symptoms with a psychological background
- Decisions and career changes
How I work
My foundation is behaviour therapy (cognitive behavioural therapy, CBT). Together we work out how your thoughts, feelings and behaviour interact, and try out new ways of doing things in everyday life. Where life patterns run deep, I add schema therapy and Mindful Self-Compassion, a training in dealing with painful emotions. For trauma-related disorders I use EMDR and imagery rescripting.
As a clinical psychologist, I also offer clinical-psychological treatment and ADHD assessment for adults. With couples, I work with Guy Bodenmann’s behaviour therapy approach.
